Fire Cupping

Fire Cupping in Edmonton

Cupping uses cups that gently lift the skin and muscle with suction, instead of pressing down like regular massage. Many people find it helps loosen tight areas in the back, neck and shoulders. At Live Balanced, cupping is done by a registered massage therapist (RMT) as part of your massage.

Fire cupping and silicone cupping

  • Fire cupping: a flame is held inside a glass cup for a moment to create suction, then the cup is placed on your skin. The flame never touches you, and the cup is not hot.
  • Silicone (myofascial) cupping: soft silicone cups are squeezed to create suction and can be glided over oiled skin.

Your RMT will suggest which one suits you, or you can ask for your preference.

Who it may help

What to expect afterwards

Cupping often leaves round, red or purple marks where the cups were. They are not painful for most people and usually fade within a few days to a week. Plan around any events where the area will show.

Prices

Add fire cupping or silicone cupping to any massage for $25 (GST included). For example, a 60-minute massage with cupping is $125.

The massage portion with an RMT is covered by many extended health plans, and we direct bill most insurers.
