Direct Billing Massage in Edmonton

Our registered massage therapists (RMTs) offer direct billing to most extended health benefit plans, including Alberta Blue Cross, Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life and Green Shield. You don’t pay the full price up front and wait for a refund. We send the claim for you, and you only pay the part your plan doesn’t cover.

Don’t see your provider? Call us at (587) 414-5777. We may still be able to bill them, and if not, we’ll give you an official receipt to submit yourself.

How direct billing works

  1. Book online or by phone.
  2. Share your plan details at your first visit: insurance company, policy or group number, and member or ID number. If you’re covered under a spouse’s or parent’s plan, we’ll also need the plan member’s name and date of birth.
  3. We submit the claim right after your massage.
  4. You pay any balance your plan doesn’t cover.

Doctor’s referrals

Some plans only cover massage therapy with a doctor’s referral. Please check your plan before your appointment, and send the referral to your insurer if they ask for one.

Two benefit plans?

We direct bill your primary plan. If you also have a secondary plan (for example through a spouse), you can submit the remaining balance to it yourself using your receipt. Some insurers also allow us to bill the secondary plan directly. Just ask.

Longer appointments

Some insurers limit how long a massage they will cover in one visit, or how much they pay per year. If you’re booking 90 minutes or longer, check with your insurer first so there are no surprises.

Car accident (MVA) claims

Injured in a motor vehicle accident? Once your auto insurance claim is open, we can bill your auto insurer. See our MVA massage therapy page for details.

Frequently asked questions

Does my insurance cover massage therapy?

Most extended health plans in Alberta cover massage therapy from a registered massage therapist, up to a yearly or per-visit limit. Your benefits booklet or your insurer’s app will show your coverage.

Is there an extra fee for direct billing?

No. Direct billing is free. You only pay whatever your plan doesn’t cover.

What if my claim is declined?

If your insurer declines the claim or you’ve reached your limit, you pay for the session at your appointment and we give you a receipt.
